Today, Saturday, Dec 9. Contemplative Outreach 's Tulsa chapter, in collaboration with the
Benedictine Sisters of Osage Monastery are offering their monthly Silent Saturday gathering for centering and contemplative prayer.
I know many Christians are interested in a more Contemplative or Ancient version of worship and I find this to be a wonderful opportunity to experience a time of peace in this bustling season.
We will gather in the Monastery around 8:00 am to have Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina. We will then have some hours of silence, simplicity and contemplation on our own.
At 12:00 noon we regather for joint Centering prayer for a half hour, then communal lunch. The rest of the group will continue on the remainder of the day, I unfortunately have to leave then.
This season is so wound up in consumption and bustle. It is wonderful to stop, be quiet, and to welcome silence and simplicity into our lives.
Holy Spirit,
open our hearts and minds to the
lived experience of
Your Indwelling Presence.
May we live our lives from the Divine Creator,
ever aware of the Source of every breath,
our every movement,
the awe of every moment.
Infuse us with simplicity of heart, mind, and body.
Infuse our lives with simplicity of Presence.
Infuse us with simple gratitude
for the gift of our very lives.
Take heed and do not be persuaded by pagan practices. God is the same yesterday, today forever.
As He has done..so shall He do again to those who follow after the examples of Israel and Judah.
You have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob.
They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans. (Isaiah 2:6)
Heb 4:11
Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.
1Co 10:1
For it is my desire, my brothers, that you may keep in mind how all our fathers were under the cloud, and they all went through the sea;
1Co 10:2
And they all had baptism from Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1Co 10:3
And they all took the same holy food;
1Co 10:4
And the same holy drink: for they all took of the water from the holy rock which came after them: and the rock was Christ.
1Co 10:5
But with most of them God was not pleased: for they came to their end in the waste land.
1Co 10:6
Now these things were for an example to us, so that our hearts might not go after evil things, as they did.
1Co 10:11
Now these things happened unto them by way of example; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.
1Co 10:12
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

How do you know when these events are planned in advance? I'd love to get involved in something like this if I only knew when. I live in Ponca City--about two hours away.
