In keeping with the AllSaints' entry, I post this in memory of the uncle I never knew, my mother's brother Peter, who died on Okinawa July 1945

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

This is a beautiful prayer. I've never heard it before but it truly speaks.

Whether or not the USA should be at war, these men and women stepped out in obedience, we should remember that.


Very moving post. I wonder if we'll ever get this question of going to war right?

The nearness of All Saints' and All Souls' surely frames all these deaths, Iraqi and American.
