I think empathy is not something you express, but something you experience in community.

I think when you enter into another human's experience, you can't help but change; or be converted. I think this is a beautiful picture you've conjured.

Go out and sell all of you possessions. Maybe because these possessions are your trappings, but maybe because you are then enabled to truly enter into the lives of the poor and raise them through shared suffering.

Jesus entered into our suffering. Simon entered into Jesus' suffering. I need to do more than just care. I need to be converted.
