Monk-in-Training

Welcome Dr. Science!
I am a memeber of the Brotherhood of St. Gregory. That would make me in the path of being a Gregorian Friar. It is a non residential group, if I was cloistered, I woudld be a Monk. A technical difference, many are unaware of.

I am glad you stop by! :)

Brother Friar:

I'm interested in watching your journey because one of my close relatives became a Capuchin some years ago. I don't know what order you're associated with, but I hope that I can learn something more about my family member from your journey, and maybe make some comments that will help you.

Hey Sr. Rowan.
I would LOVE to find out more about the history of the St. Francis prayer, I really love it. It doesn't matter to me that he didn't author it, the words are sublime, and some of the deepest Christian words ever written. Could you tell me more? I would be glad to post it.

Damien Scott

A sung version of this prayer was the recessional at the Mass when I was received into the church, so it has always been close to my heart.

Trivia: For those in Twelve Step programs, this prayer (attributed in the text to St. Francis) is used in the section on how to meditate in the book TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS.

aside from who penned the prayed, thank you for including it in your blog today. it reminds me to focus only on the important things of life.

I have to break it to you that Francis didn't write this prayer! I admit that he easily could have (and in fact it is not unlike some stuff that he did write) but it is 19th century french in origin...
I spent 7 years as a franciscan sister in the UK (Anglican), and i am still a franciscan at heart, so I wish you great joy on your journey.
