Various news outlets are reporting that low income wage earners are being cheated out of their meager earnings routinely in the United States. Check out this single story from NPR. Only about ten percent get their just worker's compensation when injured, and nearly 70% are often not paid what wages they have earned. At the same time some Coporate executives are complaining about lower bonuses and how hard it is to keep those extra mansions and private jets going.
The Scriptures warn us, this is not something God will permit to go on forever, and as a supposed "Christian" nation, why do we for a moment allow this?
James 5:1-5
Come now, you rich people, weep and wail for the miseries that are coming to you. 2Your riches have rotted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. 3Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you, and it will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure for the last days. 4Listen! The wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. 5You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.
Amen Brother!
The problem is even more acute among those who are undocumented and more vulnerable to unscrupulous employers.
Isaiah 58:3
'Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?' "Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.
